By being here I can guess that you want to learn how to make money dropshiping right?
Well if that’s the case I have good news for you. Because today that’s exactly what we are going to be talking about. But what makes me qualified to be here in this position trying to teach you anything?
First, I am going to start by telling you that I have been doing this business for the past 3 years and through all these years I have had multiple stores that simply failed because my lack of experience and after so many trials and errors I am now a proud mortal who manages to make over $150.000 per month in profit from one of my stores. Here is a screenshot:
And today I am going to teach you exactly how I made that possible. As I can imagine you must be tired of all the bs people been feeding you on the internet. Keep In mind that I am going to describe here the steps I took to get where I am at today and I am going to share with you the tools I use. This will not be a get rich quick lesson or any overnight success case. If you want to reach to this level you’ve got to work hard and spend money. Don’t even start this business If you’re thinking you won’t spend any money. I recommend having at least $500 usd to start this out but consider over $1000 if you can.
What is dropshipping? According to shopify “Dropshipping is a retail fulfillment method where a store doesn't keep the products it sells in stock. Instead, when a store sells a product, it purchases the item from a third party and has it shipped directly to the customer. As a result, the merchant never sees or handles the product.
The biggest difference between dropshipping and the standard retail model is that the selling merchant doesn't stock or own inventory. Instead, the merchant purchases inventory as needed from a third party – usually a wholesaler or manufacturer – to fulfill orders.”
Before we start I recommend you that as we discuss each topic you follow along by taking action and interacting with the websites/tools as we go so you can visualize them and interpret. The best way to learn is by practicing.
Step1- Choose your niche
Why pick a niche and not go broad or general? Well picking a specific niche is one of the main components of creating a successful business I can’t stress this enough. When you get on a specific niche it is easier for you to target your audience and it is easier for your audience to connect with you.
This will be very important as you grow because they will become returning consumers and people are more likely to share your products on social networks if they believe you’re an authority on that specific field. All this will get you more organic traffic and sales and most importantly trust.
You need preferably a niche whose audience is passionate. What I mean by passionate audience is people who are passionate about something like cat lovers. They’re passionate about cats. Passion is important in ecommerce because most people when they buy on the internet is by impulse, so if they see something they’re passionate about is most likely that they’ll buy it.
Step 2- Research your audience
There are few ways you can research your audience. You can do it on google trends and search for keywords or you can do the best way in my opinion which is Facebook audience research.
Play with this tool a little and get familiar with it. Then you can start searching for interests according to you niche. Narrow the regions to first world countries only because as a beginner it is better to target people who are most likely to afford your products (no offense but as a beginner you need more mature markets and first world countries are more used to buy online)
If you didn’t choose you niche yet you can start by searching interests like cats and see the top liked pages, etc. If you want you can narrow your audience further by adding other interests. By doing this you will start seeing some niche stores in the top 20 page likes area.
These stores are very important because you can get ideas of what’s selling and the prices. This should get you started on picking up your niche. Remember to choose a niche that has at least 5,000,000 people
Take notes of the interests and pages that you think would be most likely to buy products in your niche so you can target them later.
Step 3: Create a Shopify store
You have different options to create a dropshipping store but none of them are as safe, easy or fast as Shopify to setup. None of the others make it so easy for you to start making money dropshipping. You have all the apps you could need and an amazing 24h support. These are just few of the many reasons I prefer Shopify over any other platform.
Create your account here for free (you will start paying after 14 days so start as soon as possible to make the most of them).
Start playing around your store and see how you want to set it up. You can check this video to see how you can setup a store.
Step 4: Create your Oberlo account
Oberlo is the tool you will use to import products from your supplier (will talk about it next) effortlessly. All you have to do is click import on your product then change some details and you’re done.
Signup for Oberlo here then click Find products.
Step 5: Sign up for AliExpress
Here is where you will source your products from. As a beginner I recommend to start here because it’s the easiest way and can be very profitable.
The store I showed you earlier where I made over $150K was using this website as supplier. Anything you find on this website can be imported to your store using Oberlo.
On AliExpress you can find cheap products that you can sell for a very good profit. This is possible because they are shipped directly from china.
This is how most of the dropshipping stores are earning their money including myself. Well get in more details next on how to choose the best products
Step 6: Picking your products
On this step we need to take a lot of things in consideration. When looking for a product you want:
- Items that are not too popular
- Items that have nice images showcasing the product.
- Items that you can sell for at least $20
These are essential requirements. If your products don’t meet these criteria then you are going the wrong direction
When searching for products don’t rush. Take your time and search everything that comes in you mind, a simple tweak in your search could show a whole different result.
For example, you could search “your idea” Shirt; “your idea” shoes, “your idea” dress. You get the picture keep trying and playing around sooner or later you will find your wining product
As you search always click the option sort by orders on top of the page. This way you can see the most bought products so you can have better guarantee that the product will be high quality.
Only import products that have at least 4.2 stars and 100 reviews. This way you reduce the chances of getting bad quality products and facing complaints from your clients.
When using Oberlo you have the option to choose what shipping methods you want your products have. Always go for the epacket option. It’s a cheap and fast method of shipping
Step 7: Create a Facebook business account
Its recommended for you to launch you campaigns from a business account instead of personal. This way you can run ads on multiple stores in a organized way
You can do that here
Step 8: Test your products
Before doing this I recommend you to setup your pixel you can learn here how to do It manually or you can use an app like trackify to do it for you.
This is where you will test your products. To do so you will launch ads. It may sound intimidating but it really isn’t. What I usually do is this:
- Go for Conversions
- Choose your audience according to what you did on step 2 and tweak some more.
- Create different ad groups so you can test multiple products and see which one will sell the best. Something like this:
- Campaign- Leaf necklace
- Ad group 1- Leaf lovers group
- Ad group 2- Leaf Brands
- Ad group 3- Leaf Rescue
- Ad group 4- Famous Leaves, etc.
I launch them at $5/day each and let them go for a week. If I see any of those ad sets doing good I raise the budget to $10/day and so on then I will start killing the ones who didn’t go well in those 7 days period.
If you want to get data faster go for $10/day and let them roll for 4 days. This way you can know faster what your wining product will be
Leave the rest as it Is. As a beginner there Isn’t much to do here. On the next step you will add your products information where Is up to you what you will do on that stage.
Don’t forget. Its better if you run multiple ad sets so you can test multiple products and find a real winner.
Step 9- Analyze your data
After a week or 4 days if you chose the $10/day route. Analyze your Facebook analytics data and see how your ads performed.
If you have profitable ad sets in the first 2-4 days, it means that you’ve got a wining product and the right audience. Find lookalike audience and scale your ad sets.
Keep testing new products and kill those who don’t perform well enough and if you get to the point where none of your ad sets perform well get back to the step 1. Keep testing and don’t be that person who is too afraid to lose money. Scared money don’t make no money. With patience and dedication, you will soon enough start seeing traction.
